Unproduced Jim Henson Screenplay Released as Graphic Novel

The graphic novel adaptation of an unproduced,
feature-length screenplay written by Jim Henson
and his frequent writing partner, Jerry Juhl.
An unproduced feature film length screenplay, "A Tale of Sand" written by Jim Henson and Jerry Juhl in 1967 was discovered in the Jim Henson Company archives.  The screenplay has recently been released as a graphic novel from Ramon Perez and the publisher Archaia Entertainment with the blessing of the Jim Henson Company.

The graphic novel's description says that is "follows scruffy everyman, Mac, who wakes up in an unfamiliar town, and is chased across the desert of the American Southwest by all manners of man and beast of unimaginable proportions."

According to a recent article from thestar.com, Perez tried to make the graphic novel accessible to both comic readers and non-comic readers.  Perez is quoted as saying, “What I tried to keep in mind all the time was that not everyone who picks this up is going to be a comic book reader. I had to make it accessible to both — entertaining to the ones who are familiar with comics and accessible for those who are unfamiliar."

Jim Henson's Tale of Sand graphic novel was released earlier this year, almost 45 years since it was written and almost 22 years since the passing of the legendary Jim Henson.
